Summer Academy
An Inspiration of Achievement for All
Prep USA - Reaching for the Stars Academy is a program that prepares promising young students for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Arts (STEAM) related fields. This Academy is in partnership with the University of the Pacific's School of Engineering & Computer Science and their Gladys L. Benerd School of Education, and with the Stockton Unified School District.
Studies show that children who don't have academically stimulating summer environments can actually have lower reading and math skills when they return to school.
The University of the Pacific and the José M. Hernández Reaching for the Stars Foundation have launched this Summer Academy to prepare students striving to attend college and achieve careers in STEM/STEAM related fields. The STEM/STEAM curriculum consists of developing and enhancing critical thinking, logical reasoning and problem solving skills.
The Summer Academy's goal is to increase the number of competently prepared students who will pursue careers in STEM/STEAM.
Students attending schools in the Stockton Unified School District are eligible to attend.
